FDR probably never swam with sharks or else he wouldn’t have said that. But all too often I let fear get the better of me. FDR identifies that fear as a nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.
I don’t think all fear is bad. A lot of it is built-in and comes in pretty handy for staying alive. Sometimes it’s even fun – i.e. roller coasters.
Maybe that bad kind of fear is holding you back from something. Maybe stopping you from asking out that cute receptionist at The Office or dumping Roy for that charming paper salesman.
Maybe there is something you should be more afraid of. What if you let that bad fear always hold you back? Isn’t that truly scary?
